Great Cherry Robusta works with local growers in Dak Lak to produce fine robusta lots that challenge what people expect from the variety, combining careful cherry selection with modern processing.

Dak Lak, Vietnam

Dak Lak is the heart of Vietnam’s coffee region, known historically for volume robusta. This lot comes from smallholder plots at around 700m, where the Robusta Sè heirloom variety is grown and processed with unusual care.

Process

Anaerobic natural

Whole cherries are fermented anaerobically before drying as naturals, a process more commonly associated with arabica but applied here to robusta to build sweetness and complexity rarely seen in the variety.

Raisins, hazelnut, cognac

Rich and dense in the cup, with dried fruit sweetness, roasted hazelnut and a warm, cognac-like depth on the finish. A full-bodied robusta built for espresso.
